Proficiency in Islamic Studies

Introduction

The study of Islam within the West has increasingly gained importance due to the significance of Islam on the national and international stage. The need for an articulate and accurate presentation of Islam and Muslims is of great importance for both Muslims and non Muslims alike. With knowledge comes understanding; it is with this in mind that the Proficiency in Islamic Studies programme has been developed by a team of Islamic scholars. The aim of the programme is to provide the student with a foundation of Islamic knowledge based on both classical and modern interpretations of issues relevant to Muslims within the West. The student can then use this knowledge as a practical guide to understand the contemporary issues affecting Muslims in the West. The student can select modules randomly and accumulate certificate credits towards the award of a final diploma.
